At the Southern tip of Gujarat, folded into the densely wooded hills of the Sahayadris, lies the abode of serpents- Saputara. In the picturesque Dangs district, this is a hill station with a difference, where you can immerse yourself in a timeless land that’s still pretty much the way God made it. After all legend has it that Lord Rama spent 11 years of his exile in these very forests.This picturesque hill station is perched on a plateau in the Dang forest area of the Sahyadri Range. Saputara - Weather
Saputara experiences a uniform weather all through the year. The temperature goes up to as high as 28 degree C during the summers thus making it the ideal place to spend the summers.

Saputara does not experience any extreme temperature variations and is an ideal getaway for the sun-scorched souls of the plains. The monsoon rains add to the magic of Saputara. Saputara - Origin

Saputara means the 'Abode of Serpents'. The image of a snake on the banks of the river Sarpaganga is worshipped by the tribal people of the area on festivals like Holi. The tribal of Saputara also attract the visitors for their unique dance. Saputara has been developed as a planned hill resort with all the necessary amenities like hotels, parks, swimming pools, boat club, theatres, ropeways and a museum to ensure an enjoyable holiday in the cool of the hill. Saputara is only 172 Kms. from Surat. Excursions from Saputara can be made to the wild life sanctuary in the Mahal Bardipara forest, 60 Kms. from here and to Gira Waterfalls 52 Kms away.

Shopping from Artist Village
Visitors can pick up fine pieces of pottery, jewellery, vases, paintings, pen stands, key chains, all made from bamboo chips and other locally found material from the Gandharvapur Artist Village as souvenirs and gift items from Saputara. Children can learn to make simple items in the workshop organised by the craftsmen.
 
The Tribals of Dangs
Tribes like Bhils, Kunbis, Warlis, and Gamits inhabit Dangs. They are known for their dances, which are performed wearing masks made out of Bamboo and Wood.
